This workshop is designed to provide an introduction to automating cataloging and circulation functions in a library. Participants will discuss aspects of automating from why automation is appropriate to the selection of software, networking and hardware requirements, collection preparation, implementation and training issues. |

Library personnel who are preparing for automation. Staff who have recently automated their libraries will also benefit from this workshop. |
Length:
5 hours; can be adjusted to meet the needs of the workshop sponsor. |
Method of Instruction:
Lecture, small group discussion, and written exercises. |
Equipment Needed:
Internet connection preferred, but not required. Instructor will provide display projector and laptop. |
