Target Audience:

This workshop is designed for people who have attended the basic, intermediate, and advanced sessions or who have learned these skills through other means.  The instructor assumes knowledge of basic, intermediate, and advanced editing and formatting at the level presented in the three previous classes.


Prerequisites:

Microsoft Word: An Introduction, Microsoft Word: Intermediate, and Microsoft Word: Advanced or equivalent experience.

Length:

5 hours; can be adjusted to meet the needs of the workshop sponsor.

Method of Instruction:

Lecture, demonstration, and hands-on practice.


Equipment Needed:

Computer lab with a projection screen for the instructor's workstation.

Workshop Objectives:

By the end of this workshop, participants will be able to meet the following objectives:

  • Choose appropriate font faces and styles to reflect the intended purpose of the document.
  • Use Drop Cap to enlarge the first character or word of a paragraph.
  • Use WordArt to alter the shape of text.
  • Insert pictures.
  • Insert and edit text boxes.
  • Add borders and lines.
  • Make columns.
  • Format for a variety of paper sizes.
  • Divide pages.
  • Use templates to assist in document design.
